Biography
From 1987 to 1990, Wade rewrote the Mullen record books while playing for Hall of Fame Coach Mike Brown. As a junior and senior, he helped lead his team to consecutive playoff appearances and his career was capped off with the Bronco’s first ever Class D-1 State Championship in 1990. He compiled 2,728 rushing yards and 39 touchdowns during that championship season- including a state record 1,070 rushing yards in the Bronco’s 4 playoff games. Wade also set the school record (at the time) with 5,169 yards rushing in a career. During his time as a prep standout, he was selected 1st Team All-Loup Valley Conference and All-Sandhills Conference on multiple occasions, while also being named 1st Team All-State and State Offensive Player of the Year in 1990. After graduation, he was honored to play in both the 1991 Eight-Man All Star Game and the Western Nebraska All-Star Game. His son Lane later followed in his father’s footsteps (and even surpassed many of his accomplishments) as a record breaking 8-Man running back on Mullen’s 2018 State runner-up team. The NEMFCA is honored to now welcome him into the Eight Man Football Hall of Fame Class of 2020-21.
