Biography

Jim is a native of Bassett, Nebraska. After playing college football at Wayne State College, he moved to Hampton High School where he compiled a career record of 69 wins and 18 losses. His teams were state champions in 1973 and finished as runners-up in 1972, 1976, and 1977. Over the years, he coached 4 undefeated teams and 4 conference championship teams.

In 1978, Coach Connick served as an assistant coach for the East team in the very first All Star game. He categorized his experience as: “one of the top highlights of my career.” Jim also summarized his time coaching eight-man football by saying that he: “enjoyed working with great coaches, great athletes, and great fans.” The NEMFCA was honored to welcome him into the Eight Man Football Hall of Fame Class of 2017.
